I was very excited to be invited to dine at Orchid Thai Fusion. - Oakville’s newest upscale Thai restaurant.

Thai being a type of food I enjoy most, I couldn’t wait to see how Orchid Thai compared to my favourite Thai restaurants. So last Thursday, my co-workers and I ventured off to Orchid Thai Fusion for, what I soon realized, was one of the best Thai meals I have ever had.

Located at 372 Iroquois Shore Rd., where a Chinese buffet used to be, is a beautiful, elaborately renovated new Thai restaurant. Bearing no resemblance to the previous restaurant located here, Orchid Thai is refreshing, trendy and elegant.

With an interior decorated with beautiful chairs and tables, calming colours and innovative design elements, this restaurant is certainly fit for Oakville’s elite fine dining clientele.

Warmly greeted by the staff, we were shown to our table where Manager Nam welcomed us. As he described the recent renovations, it was clear to see this was a man full of pride for his new restaurant, and was excited to let us sample the chef’s fine work.

As our first course arrived, it was a feast for our senses. Scents of fresh seafood filled the air as Thai Seafood Soup and Curry Pumpkin Soup was placed in front of us. The soup was perfectly flavoured and rich with aromas, earning rave reviews from everyone at the table. Next came Thai Orchid Cold Rolls and Grapefruit Salad. Both dishes just as tasty as the previous.

As our main courses came, we were thrilled to sample more of this delicious cuisine. We were treated to Bangkok Street Style Pad Thai, Red Snapper with Mango, Basil Beef and Golden Curry.

Offering more delicious flavours, the Pad Thai and the Basil Beef were traditional and spiced perfectly, the Golden Curry, possibly the best I’ve tasted, was sweet and smooth and the Red Snapper was fresh and well matched with a fresh Mango Salad, bursting with citrus flavour.

As our dessert arrived and we were sitting comfortably (and certainly full!)  at our table we began to take notice of the uniqueness of this Thai restaurant. The sleek design elements, the beautifully crafted bar, the soft music playing; upscale features that are matched perfectly to the cuisine.

Chef Henry, formerly of Spoon and Fork Restaurant has created exquisite cuisine here. Each plate we tasted exploded with wonderful flavour and aromas.

Orchid Thai is certainly not just another Thai restaurant, it is a true dining experience. The staff is welcoming and gracious and after a meal here, you can see that they have put their heart and soul into making your experience an enjoyable and memorable one.

A visit here is certainly one that will keep you returning time and time again.
